Malus, which is a piece of “satire” but also fully functional, performs a “clean room” clone of open source software, meaning users could then sell, redistribute, etc. the software without crediting the original developers. But I have a hard time with the “clean room” argument since the LLM doing the behind-the-scenes work has already ingested the entire corpus of open source software – and somehow the output of the LLMs isn’t considered a derivative work.

Why This 'Modern' Russian Armored Carrier Burned By The Hundreds In The Streets Of Ukraine (inv.nadeko.net)

Community iconc/ukraine@sopuli.xyz by

In 2013, Russia adopted the BTR-82A as the future of its mechanized infantry. A modern 8x8 wheeled armoured personnel carrier with a stabilized 30mm autocannon, thermal optics, satellite navigation, and a diesel engine that could start in minus forty degrees Celsius. It was supposed to lead the sweep into Kyiv in February 2022. Within three years, over 1,000 of them had been destroyed, captured, or abandoned across Ukraine. Russian soldiers started calling it meat delivery. The factory kept building them anyway.
