The new Epic Games launcher is better than the old one, but only because the bar was in hell.

Community iconlinux_gaming@lemmy.world by
Blisterexe@lemmy.zip

The new one opens faster and has a better UI, but it feels so bad to use, every resize and interaction causes elements to shift around weirdly, the scrolling feels horrible somehow, there’s a random sidebar (pictured) that is empty and that i can’t hide. Also, although, to it’s credit, the app opens fast and responds instantly to clicks, every async load (store page, game banner) is incredibly sluggish.

Epic Games reportedly delays Disney shooter title so it can pivot to AI coding — staff allegedly told 'no more handwritten code' with art 'generated with full AI workflows'

Community icongaming@lemmy.world by

Epic Games has reportedly delayed a shooter based on Disney’s Marvel and Star Wars franchises, with its developers told to use more AI. According to Bloomberg, the yet-to-be-named game was supposed to be released in March of 2027, but its launch date has been pushed back to an unspecified date. Aside from that, the company also told the people working on the project to switch to an “AI first” production model. One of the game directors was quoted telling staff that there will be “no more handwritten code” and that the game’s art would now be “generated with full AI workflows.”

Hungary’s parliament has voted to repeal controversial provisions in its child protection legislation that campaigners said stigmatized LGBTQ+ people, marking one of the most significant reversals of former prime minister Viktor Orbán’s social policies. The amendments were approved on Tuesday by the government of Prime Minister Péter Magyar, which has been working to dismantle parts of Orbán’s legacy since taking office earlier this year.

At first glance, the Zero is about as clunky and unattractive a power bank as you’ll ever find these days. There’s a good reason for that, though: you can take it apart without tools, swap out weak cells for fresh ones when the time comes, and keep using it for way longer than any other power bank will last.
